The Way I See It... |
Twenty-something, coffee-addicted, photographer, nanny, daughter, sister, friend, girlfriend, Southern California. Things that inspire, move and cause me to reflect. |
A while back, I started a little section called Brussel Sprouts and Cheesecake. It was a post that highlighted the good and the bad of life. I think it’s time to reinstate as it helped me realize how blessed I am and how, in reality, the Brussel Sprouts aren’t that bad. So for this installation:
Cheesecake:
- A decorated house back in Murrieta. Knowing that in 5 days, I’ll be walking through the door to a ridiculous amount of red and green and the smell of our tree, which I named Herbert is almost enough motivation for the week.
- Family…they were there tonight when I walked in the house at 8pm and promptly cried…for half an hour…and would get distracted through my tears as we watched Dirty Jobs
-Andrew…because when he called to see how my drive was going and found out I was at home, crying…dropped his plans to come hug me and remind me that the next house I’ll be living in will be ours. It’s moments like that when I realize how blessed I am to one day call him my husband.
-Tim Tebow…if you didn’t win today our Sunday would have been ruined.
-Miami Dolphins…because your win made my boyfriend want to watch your games again.
- Jasmine Star “Exposed”…on my counter when I came home Friday. I giggled uncontrollably and danced like the guy in Hitch.
-Disneyland with my best friend getting moved to Thursday…because all the cool kids are going then…including the family I work for and Andrew’s sister. Mickey better be ready for us.
-The best chinese food in Murrieta…I am so sick tonight but your chow mein makes my heart sing and my ghost of a gall bladder cry. The fact that we got 64 ounces of chow mein, 78 ounces of orange chicken, 32 ounces of teriakyi chicken, and 32 ounces of steamed rice for only $30, fed 8 people and still had 32 ounces of chow mein, 32 ounces of orange chicken, 20 ounces of teriakyi chicken and 16 ounces or steamed rice left over even made it sweeter.
-The little Christmas tree I brought back to work…it just makes me smile ok.
Brussel Sprouts
- St. Louis Rams…you looked like a high school team today.
-Leaving Christmas…having to come back to work is so much harder when my house is warm, cozy and gaudy with Christmas decorations…because that’s how we like it.
-These knots in my shoulders…I feel like the hunchback of notre dame.
- Knowing that tomorrow, when I have to hose down the backyard cement I’m going to be a popsicle.
- Saying “no” to Andrew buying me that Peppermint Bark at Williams Sonoma…seriously a lapse in judgement.
I love that no matter what, the Cheesecake always seems to outweigh the Brussel Sprouts.
Happy Sunday friends.
